The Role
The Land Engineering Agency, as part of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, supports various Directorates and Systems Program Offices to ensure successful requirements development, acquisition and in-service support of land materiel. The Agency provides services in engineering, testing, design and development and technical data management. Services are provided across the whole of the Defence Capability Life Cycle. As a member of the Land Engineering Agency, the Technical Specialist - Food Technologist will have a unique opportunity to be part of an engineering and technical team to deliver Australian Defence Force systems that are at the leading edge of Defence capability.

The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) is an integral part of the Department of Defence. This group purchases and maintains military equipment and supplies in the quantities and to the service levels that are required by Defence and approved by Government. Within CASG, the Land Domain acquires and supports designated land systems for the Australian Defence Force.

Our Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role will be a Technical Specialist who is required to apply technical expertise and knowledge in the field of food science and technology, to ensure delivery of safe and effective long-life rations for the Australian Defence Force.
The Technical Specialist assures the technical integrity (including safety and performance) of the combat ration pack by specifying performance, nutritional and packaging requirements, designing testing methods, conducting audits and verification programs on new and existing suppliers, authoring risk assessments, investigating failures, and proposing component and menu improvements and innovations.
As a member of the Combat Rations Team, the Technical Specialist reports to the Technical Lead and will take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives, recommend solutions for issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes and seek guidance on more complex issues.
