About the team 

The Software Development Team is part of the Design Engineering division of AAP who are responsible for providing ‘fit for purpose/fit to contract' product and service delivery excellence to meet service performance targets and regulatory requirements.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Systems, Software and Avionics, as the Team Lead Software Development you will lead a collaborative team of engineers in Brisbane with a focus on the software development portion of the systems engineering life cycle. This would include:

  • Motivating and leading a team, encouraging a positive team culture and high performance
  • Resolving escalated issues in relation to delivery
  • Undertaking technical information reviews
  • Develop, review, approve and manage design engineering tasks within your scope including advice and modifications
  • Ensuring the team are performing to a high standard expected for airborne software engineering activities on latest generation rotary wing platforms focusing on software requirements analysis, software architecture, code and unit test, and support to software test team as relevant for software integration and software formal qualification test
  • Review of engineering artefacts covering the full software product lifecycle
  • Maintain data files, engineering records and electronic databases as required to report accurately and record engineering decisions

About you

To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, have well developed relationship skills as well as good verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who is able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment. The skills and experience best suited to this role:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Software/Systems/ Avionics)
  • RPEQ preferred
  • 5-8 years + Software Engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of software development and certification methodologies, preferably for embedded software
  • Knowledge of airborne software design assurance standards preferred
  • Previous experience gained in a leadership position with confidence in managing performance and development of a team.
