Systems Safety Engineer – APS6 An exciting opportunity exists to be part of a team responsible for delivering leading edge satellite communications technology in support of Australian Defence Force operations.

This is a major project for the future Australian Defence Satellite Communication System. It will develop and deliver the next generation of satellite communications capability enabling resilient and responsive communications beyond the range and capacity of other systems in support of Australian Defence Force operations.

The project is seeking highly motivated and skilled professionals in logistics, project management and engineering with a genuine interest to contribute and be a part of a team delivering this strategically significant capability. As the Systems Safety Engineer, you will be accountable to the project’s Chief Engineer to support the planning, development and management of System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) and execution of the System Safety Program (SSP).

Our Ideal Candidate:
You will have proven experience and knowledge in Systems Engineering. You will also possess experience in stakeholder management and high quality written and oral communication skills. You will be able to operate effectively within a Government Procurement Framework.

This position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian Institution or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.

This position will provide opportunity to:

  • act as an interface to the system provider supporting safety related activities and deliverables,
  • liaise with critical internal stakeholders,
  • conduct review of project documentation including project plans and reports on system safety and associated risk reports at various stages of the project,
  • undertake performance management; assurance and governance, and,
  • work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts by organising and participating in the System Safety Working Group (SSWG) meetings to resolve safety related issues.
