About Your Role
Thales Australia Vehicle & Tactical Systems exists to develop protected mobility vehicles, developing specialised products to meet specific requirements not catered for elsewhere. As a domain, the goal of Protected Vehicles (PRV) is to develop an organisation that provides world class Protected Vehicle solutions and through life support to defence organisations around the world. This will include the support and improvement of Bushmaster and Hawkei vehicle variants and the development of new products.
This position can be based at either our Bendigo or Brisbane site.
The Systems Engineer performs a subset of the system engineering activities required to develop a solution or product. Your key duties will include:
  • Analyse the customer and other stakeholder needs to meet the requested requirements
  • Establish and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Describe the missions, functions and requirements on the solution or the product
  • Formalise the specification and the architectural design to develop the solution or the product
  • Prepare and perform the solution or product integration, verification and validation tests
  • Designing, developing and qualifying the solution or product

About You
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
  • Engineering qualification enabling registration as a Chartered Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer
  • A high level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
  • Experience in Configuration Management
  • Understanding of quality systems and procedures
  • Experience in the development of requirements
  • Experience establishing validation activities in support of requirement sign off
  • Experience in using DOORs (desirable)
  • Ability to use standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Understanding of Defence user community and associated operational environment (desirable)
  • Commercial Services & Support delivery with a sound understanding of the business principles and practices
