About the team

Located in Darra, the Supplier Quality Engineer supports the purchasing of our Electronics Solutions, Weapon & Ammunition and Vehicle Systems divisions to develop and qualify our suppliers. This is a rare chance to join a collaborative team of engineers, strategic purchasers, technical specialists and analysts.

About the role

The Supplier Quality Engineer supports our engineering activities, providing validations, data analysis, and statistical process control for assets including all materials and equipment used within the production facility. You will be responsible for supplier product-related root cause analysis, process mapping and impact assessments for change control procedures on behalf of our teams.

As a Supplier Quality Engineer you can anticipate some of your additional day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Analyzing non-conforming materials and returned goods and recommend disposition and corrective actions;
  • Adhere to Quality System procedures in line with current regulatory standards;
  • Provide analytical investigations and develop root cause for non-conformances and deviations;
  • Develop, document, and implement QA Procedures; and
  • Perform external audits of suppliers of equipment and materials, reporting findings and developing actions as required.

What are we looking for?

The experience and skillset best suited to this role include:  

  • Degree qualifications in Engineering and significant experience working in supplier quality or quality assurance in an electrical production or manufacturing environment;
  • Previous work experience (at least two years) in the electrical industry (e.g. production of PCB, cable or complex electronic assembles) would be ideal;
  • Proven experience in dealing with suppliers and auditing suppliers;
  • IPC 620/ IPC 610 certification would be desirable;
  • Knowledge of VDA 6.3 and knowledge of ESD - Electrostatic Discharge requirements would be an advantage;
  • Knowledge of SMD - Surface Mounted Device processes would be an advantage;
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, decision making and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication, consultation and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing, editing and proofing skills;
  • Well-developed inter-personal and teamwork skills to communicate and resolve product quality issues with R&D, production, engineering and other departments;
  • Sound working knowledge of computerised management systems (MS Word, SAP);
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety principles and relevant compliance and legislative requirements; and
  • Be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance and have the capacity to satisfy pre-employment screening.
