Laing O'Rourke are recruiting for a Senior Traffic Engineer based on the South Eastern Program Alliance. This role offers great career prospects with a privately owned tier 1 constructor, and an international engineering enterprise.
Laing O'Rourke, as part of the South East Program Alliance (SEPA) are working with LXRP, Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) and Jacobs to develop and deliver value-for-money engineering solutions for multiple level crossing removals.
The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) is a delivery entity created by the Victorian Government to remove 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Victoria by 2025. It is one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in Victoria's history. Our current pipeline of works includes major station upgrades, track duplications and a range of other critical rail infrastructure works.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist the Traffic Management Lead in the execution of their duties
  • Provide onsite engineering services and technical support to ensure the planning, implementation and maintenance of traffic management is carried out accordingly within specified guidelines.
  • Exercise professional judgement and negotiation in resolving traffic management issues, i.e. local council, local residents, road users, etc.
  • Financial management skills including identification of cost efficiencies and managing budgets
  • Reporting on traffic engineering performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
  • Undertake risk assessments for developing Traffic Management Plans
  • Ensure the safety of the engineers, workforce and general public with the use of appropriate and compliant Traffic management plans and control devices during construction activities
  • Possess a high level of personal organisation and accountability
  • Operate productively within a team environment
  • Primarily attend work during working hours on business days, and occasionally out of hours as required for major events at the discretion of the Traffic Manager

You will have
  • Bachelor of Engineering
  • Experience in Major Project construction
  • Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of worksite traffic management Acts, Standards, Codes and Regulations
  • Stakeholder management / interpersonal skills
  • Conflict management and negotiation skills
