SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our iron ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. About the role

Reporting to the Analysis & Improvement Superintendent, your principle responsibility will be to manage the condition of plant assets by developing analytical methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and processes. You will be a significant contributor to the development, implementation and sustainability of the required improvement plans to address low plant availability and unplanned breakdowns.

The key responsibilities for this role:

  • Develops/refines asset management strategies for existing and new production equipment to ensure operability, maintainability and reliability requirements are met
  • Acquires and analyses operational downtime, rate loss, yield loss and cost data and develops and executes improvement initiatives to achieve change on plant
  • Develops, reviews and audits engineering and maintenance standards and plans and coordinates the management of change with execution teams
  • Provides short, and long-term, technical support to maintenance and operations personnel within the Magnetite Stream
  • Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements
  • Provides reliability engineering support to the development of life cycle management planning, including FMECA, RCM, RAM, etc.

About your experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in mining, mineral processing, or manufacturing businesses
  • Competency in structured data analysis and logical investigation methods
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems
  • Demonstrated experience with producing budgets and financial reporting
