About the role
The Infrastructure and Operations Division employs dedicated project management resources within two of its sections responsible for delivery of capital works: Infrastructure Property and Fleet as well as Townsville Water and Waste. These teams hold specialist project management staff who are experienced and skilled in: project management and capital delivery, procurement, contract administration, risk management and various engineering disciplines relevant to their field. These staff apply project management processes and practice to deliver projects in the approved capital plan, as defined and managed by the Infrastructure Property and Fleet section’s Program Management Office (PMO).
Project Managers plan and execute their projects, utilising both internal and external resources, while managing time, cost, scope and quality to deliver successfully against the agreed project objectives. In addition to these responsibilities, Senior Project Managers ensure the assigned portfolio of projects for each section are resourced and successfully delivered with alignment to the Infrastructure and Operations Division strategic objectives.
Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience (at least 7 years) in project management across the planning and delivery lifecycle and within a structured project management framework along with at least 5 years experience in capital infrastructure works (e.g. design, construction, procurement, contract management).
You will require a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or other related technical qualification, Post-graduate qualifications or certification in project management – Equivalent to CPPM- Australian Institute of Project Management and a current unrestricted “C” class licence.
You will have highly developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with experience leading project teams or resources in a supportive and collaborative work culture and experience in multi-faceted stakeholder management and responding constructively to operational and strategic challenges.
