It’s an exciting time to be a part of Newcrest’s journey to building Australia’s largest and most technically advanced block cave. We’re building our mining development expertise for our panel caving expansion works for phase three to extend our vision of a 50-year mine life for Cadia.

We’re turning tough deposits into tier one assets with our extensive experience in block caving, using selective processing skills to push boundaries and discover new growth opportunities. Cadia is leading the world in developing the next generation of block caving - undercutless caving.

Operations near and far 

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central West New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange and three hours from Sydney. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange and the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy. Have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector, excellent educational facilities, shopping, transport and other services such as childcare.

Who we’re looking for 

  • A permanent opportunity has arisen for a driven Senior Mining Engineer to develop and deploy long and medium term plans for the underground mining and surface operations teams, utilising an integrated planning process to identify and evaluate key strategic decisions/projects. This will include sound technical and operational factors for an optimal mine to mill plans. 
  • You will be safety focused, team oriented, enjoy continuous improvement and be willing to strive for results. Relationship building, drive and strategic thinking are second nature to you.
  • You’ll have a relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering and extensive experience in designing and scheduling in a variety of operations. It’s critical to this role that you also have demonstrated working experience in underground mining operations.

You will also have the following:

  • Experience in mine planning, studies and business improvement initiatives
  • Competent in the use of mining software packages, Deswik experience would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to think strategically and effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
