About the Role
RPMGlobal is currently seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our Advisory Metals Division. The role is primarily responsible for the provision of consulting services to our clients and requires extensive mining engineering experience, including experience in a variety of metals commodities.
The successful candidate will rapidly gain experience across numerous commodities and study types whilst working with a team of leading specialists in all aspects of the mining value chain. An interest in working on projects globally is key to this role along with a willingness to collaborate with Clients and colleagues from varied backgrounds. It is essential the candidate has on-site experience; exposure to a consulting environment would be advantageous.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Perth CBD office. Regular domestic and international travel is a requirement of this role when travel is possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business development to bring new projects into the business, working with clients to understand their requirements, and developing fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Global consulting projects such as feasibility studies and due diligences.
  • Ensure client requirements are adequately defined and recorded.
  • Verify the scope of work and deliver outcome on time.
  • Produce relevant mine planning outputs, including but not limited to:
    • Open cut pit limit optimisations (using software such as Whittle Pit Optimiser, NPV Scheduler).
    • Practical detailed open cut mine designs.
    • Strategic options analysis.
    • Development of practical and achievable mining schedules.
    • Equipment selection and fleet estimation.
    • First principle mining cost modelling.
    • Technical report writing.
    • Presenting study outcomes to clients.


About You

  • Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering.
  • Professional association membership of the AusIMM, AIG or a JORC recognised organisation
  • Experience at multiple mine sites in technical and production roles.
  • Consulting exposure would be highly regarded.
  • High performance, technically strong, self-motivated individual.
  • Previous experience in planning and operation of mining engineering functions on-site.
  • Computer literacy with mainstream mine design software such as XPAC, Vulcan, Minex, Minescape, Whittle, Deswik, MS Office and RPM's other proprietary software.
  • Have experience contributing to a broad range of project documentation i.e. reports, feasibility studies, etc.
  • The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of customer stakeholders, from technical to non-technical.
  • Strong command of the English language in both verbal and written form.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Australia and travel overseas.
