George Fisher Mine
Mount Isa, Queenlsand, Australia
Ref. No. R2-13653
You have an opportunity to make your mark as an integral member of the Technical Services team to lead the survey function.
As a key staff member within our George Fisher Mine, you will be responsible for providing timely and accurate surveying services for the operation.
However it is your skill in leading a team that is important to us, especially in regard to safety, wellbeing and professional development. We need a leader who can balance raising standards and accountability, whilst still cultivating a rewarding environment to work in.
Technically you will be experienced enough to pass on your knowledge and add value to a team of mixed levels of experience. Whilst not physically doing the tasks, you will be responsible for the quality and volume of work output of your team. With around 200 stopes completed each year within a kilometre and a half deep underground mine, your team will be kept busy performing mark ups for development and production drilling; completing horizontal and vertical development control and stope cavity surveys, and updating the database with current survey information. You will also be responsible for end of month survey reconciliation, periodic check surveys and ongoing monitoring of vertical openings.
Managing your team whilst ensuring timely and accurate survey information and reports will require you to have excellent time management skills. Getting things done as part of a team requires the ability to work alongside a diverse group of people and have the ability to communicate effectively with all operational departments. This position will provide an outstanding opportunity for you to showcase your ability as an experienced leader and good team member.
Mount Isa, is a rural and remote location. With more than 20,000 people the town has better facilities than many mining locations, and maintains a strong community / friendly atmosphere. There are plenty of activities in the area, including a large lake hosting a wide variety of water activities. Join in on the community events with something scheduled nearly every month, culminating in the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo which has been bringing thousands of people to the area since 1959. It is also a short flight to Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns to explore Queensland’s coastal areas or fly out internationally.
