Our South Queensland Plant & Process team is growing and now looking for a Brisbane-based Senior Mechanical Engineer with a background in oil and gas, energy, petrochemicals or related sectors with a strong level of knowledge and interest in detailed technical work, included review and validation. The main work areas are plant pressure vessels, piping, rotating equipment and (to a lesser extent) pipelines.

Working with the group's Principal Mechanical Engineer, this challenging position has great variety and will see you involved in:

  • Studies for emerging hydrogen and other clean energy projects, including carbon capture and storage
  • Code-driven detailed design work for green and brownfields oil and gas facilities, especially piping
  • Management of mechanical and piping design teams to deliver studies and projects in the above areas
  • Mentoring and career development of graduate and junior mechanical engineers within the team.

What you will bring to the team:

  • 5+ years' experience in the energy sectors mentioned above or the oil & gas industry or an equivalent industry
  • RPEQ (CPEng is an acceptable alternate)
  • The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of the major design codes and standards relevant to this work. Particular examples include ASME B 31.3, AS 4041, AS 1210, ASME VIII, and ASME B 31.12.
  • Experience with Caesar II pipe stress analysis, Energy Institute Guidelines for vibration analysis and engineering support for detailed design packages containing isometric drawings would be well-regarded.
