The Biomaterials and Engineering Section in the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is seeking an appropriately qualified senior mechanical engineer to contribute to mechanical and materials testing projects and desktop assessments for medical devices.
The senior mechanical engineer will scope and lead projects for testing various medical devices against appropriate standards in a laboratory setting. As such, the engineer will lead a small team to develop, deliver and/or modify equipment and procedures for testing medical devices to ensure marketed products meet essential safety principles.
There may also be opportunities to contribute to ongoing projects in other sections of the TGA that deal with engineering issues, including pre-market conformity assessment and investigations into device incident reports for current products.
Mandatory Qualifications: A Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required. For degrees that are not titled “mechanical” engineering, applicants must explain the equivalence of their degree in their Resume or Statement of Claims.
