Glencore Copper is currently a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to be responsible for a range of geotechnical site support activities within the Mine Technical Services department. This challenging role will see you work closely in a multidisciplinary team to support our global copper operations. This is a permanent full time role based in our Brisbane office with regular travel to our international operations.

You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including:

  • Provide geotechnical support and services to our open pit and underground operations
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a set of geotechnical standards and guidelines for our copper operations, and implementation of a technical assurance program 
  • Participate internal technical and toll gate reviews for operations and projects
  • Support technical evaluations and due diligence reviews of investment opportunities
  • Providing support to geotechnical and mining engineers across our operations
  • Lead collaboration between mine engineering, geotechnical and operational team across sites and regions ensuring sharing of successful innovation and practice initiatives
  • Assist with the investigation and implementation of new mining related technology across our operations

You will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical / Mining Engineering (or similar)
  • >7 years of experience in the mining industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of a range of mining methods in underground and/or open cut operations
  • Ability to travel to Glencore’s operations in Africa, Australia and South America
