About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Rail Civil Engineer (Discipline lead) to work in our Transport Business Group. You will take a leading role in delivering projects from concept stage to construction, whilst also leading the Rail Civil Discipline, offering mentorship and development to team members.

Key tasks:
  • Support the Rail Team Lead and Business Group Manager (Transportation) in developing GHD's Rail Consultancy business both locally and nationally
  • Support the professional development of team members
  • Provide technical / design expertise into rail projects as required and manage the activities of engineering and support staff in this area.
  • Conducting post service meetings with the client to collect feedback and reinforce positive on going relationship.
  • Developing a job brief clearly defining the scope of works, program and fee structure based on clients needs
  • Forming project teams, including staff from other offices and sub-consultant services if necessary
  • Making technical decisions and providing solutions based on your individual field of expertise and experience and involvement of Service Line Leaders/Coordinators and other specialists as required
  • Managing all activities related to carrying out the job and issue of deliverables

Key skills, qualifications and experience required:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) as a minimum
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the design and management of civil engineering design and transport infrastructure projects including but not limited to rail formation, earthworks, drainage water , utilities, and general civil works. infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary design coordination, interdisciplinary reviews and interface management
  • Chartered Professional Engineer with an industry recognised engineering body is desirable
  • Wide knowledge of rail systems and the rail industry with specific experience in:
    • Earthworks, Drainage and water management
    • Main and minor cable route designs
    • Stations, buildings, roads, shared user paths and depots
    • Multidiscipline design coordination of rail systems and rail corridor infrastructure
    • Construction planning
    • Rail safety
    • Demonstrated experience in project development, design, construction and understanding of maintenance
    • PTA experience desirable but not essential.
