The Role
DST Group has a Senior Electronics Engineer position available within Research Engineering (RE), an advanced engineering branch of Research Services Division that is responsible for the development of engineering solutions in support of Defence Research.

Reporting to the Discipline Leader Hypersonic Engineering and operating from DST Group’s Eagle Farm site, the Senior Electronics Engineer is accountable under limited guidance to undertake electronic design, analysis, simulation, review tasks and activities of considerable complexity. These tasks will include work upon both experimental Flight Test Vehicles (FTVs) and on supporting ground-based systems to develop and mature technologies associated with these platforms. The tasks will also involve the appropriate application of established principles in order to maintain professional engineering standards.

The role will involve work within a framework of legislation, established principals and methods of work, and as such Chartered Professional Engineer status (or eligibility to obtain this status) is required. The role is required to engage with other stakeholders to identify expectations and concerns and develop engineering design solutions to achieve beneficial outcomes.

Position Duties:

  • Accountable for managing allocated resources, setting priorities, managing and planning workflows and activities, developing strategies and evaluating outcomes in relation to electronic design and development activities in support of FTVs and related ground-based systems.
  • Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, and in sharing expertise with other employees.
  • Ensure the appropriate application of established principles, and in particular apply specific expertise in design, development and testing of multiple complex hosted and embedded electronic hardware and software sub-systems.
  • Ensure that associated reporting and communication on progress/risks/delays/challenges is made promptly and is tailored to the target audience.
  • Understand and apply established electronic engineering methodologies, and draw upon expertise in the use of electronic CAD tools and software/firmware development environments in the application of such methodologies.
  • Maintain currency in the electronic engineering field and apply these skills to FTV and associated ground-based electronic systems design, development and testing activities.
  • Facilitate appropriate team direction by clearly communicating goals and objectives.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
