Job Description
Our Melbourne office has a secure pipeline of diverse and high-profile city shaping projects, and several promising prospects on the horizon. Some examples include Suburban Rail Loop and Melbourne Airport Rail in concept and development, Tendering on North East Link, and delivering multiple Level Crossing removals in Western Program Alliance (WPA). This is in addition to supporting offices in other states of Australia. This ongoing workload requires us to grow our Bridges and Civil Structures team. Therefore, we are seeking a Senior Bridges and Civil Structures Engineer to support this growth and to become an integral member of our team.
As an experienced Bridges & Civil Structures Engineer, you will be involved in projects of various sizes including many with a high public profile. You will be required to manage part of our growing team, carrying out bridges and heavy civil structures design. Depending on project requirements this could include concept design, feasibility and options assessments, detailed design, existing structure assessments and strengthening, and construction phase services. You will also be required to successfully manage projects in accordance with our quality procedures and within financial and programme targets.

Key Responsibilities and Skills
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
• Lead project teams throughout all phases of project, from bidding to completion
• Responsible for all aspects of assigned project work
• Actively participate and lead coordination of bridge design with other disciplines such as road geometry, geotechnical and drainage
• Ability to work autonomously and with limited supervision in day to day activities
• Assist the team leader in business development
• Consider and apply the principles of Safety in Design (SiD)
• Demonstrate care about the well-being of themselves and others, through actively participating in OHS activities/requirements

Candidate Specification
You will have the following essential competencies / skills:
• Proven experience in leading and managing design packages and design teams
• Strong understanding of structural behaviours with an ability to translate this into effective structural analyses.
• Substantial analytical and structural engineering experience
• A strong structural understanding and a good grasp of analytical techniques are of prime importance
• Ability to communicate effectively in face to face meetings both internally and with clients, in both technical and non-technical environments
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including AS5100, VicRoads BTN's and MTM Standards
• Hold or be seeking to obtain MTM Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Structures Design Engineer Competencies (Designer and Checker)
• Experience in the analysis/design of common bridge types in Melbourne, such as Super T structures, Plank girder structures, Steel composite structures, concrete box culverts etc.
• Comprehensive experience using structural design and analysis packages such as Autodesk Structural Bridge Design and Midas Civil
• Willingness to travel within Australia and internationally if required
Minimum academic, professional qualifications and experience:
• Hold a recognised Structural or Civil Engineering Bachelor's degree
• Five to ten years of practical relevant experience
• Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent (preferably a CPEng),
We are offering a salary of $80,00 - $120,000 per annum, dependant on candidate experience
