The National Measurement Institute's Low-Frequency Standards Group develops, maintains and disseminates to industry Australia’s primary standards of electrical and magnetic quantities including voltage, current, power and magnetic field. We provide calibration services with the lowest attainable levels of uncertainty and are presently developing new capabilities to cover emerging areas such as power quality.
You are an electrical engineer or physicist with a sound understanding of electrical measurement, based, ideally on equipment that you have developed, and applied software that you have written. You will have demonstrated stakeholder liaison skills, coupled with a sound ability to work as part of a team of senior scientists. You are eager to learn and aim to become the Australian authority in one or more areas of electrical measurement such as electrical power and ac-dc transfer.
The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in electrical engineering or science, preferably at a Ph.D. level. • To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.
