Due to continued growth we currently have opportunities available for a qualified Project Engineers to join our team at Sydney Water Potts Hill.

The Sydney Water Contract provides mechanical, electrical and facilities maintenance, servicing over 4.6 million residents in 1.8 million homes in the Sydney, Illawarra and Blue Mountains region. Sydney Water’s operations include 30 water and wastewater treatment plants, 260 reservoirs and over 800 pumping stations and 2,400 buildings across 1,250 sites extending across 13,000km2.

About the role 

This role will provide proactive service for our client Sydney Water and reports to the Project Manager.  You will actively work towards developing, planning and co-ordinating projects which are safe, meet the required standards, are delivered on time and meet budgetary requirements while satisfying the needs of Sydney Water and Ventia.

As the Project Engineer you will be working in a fast paced environment, requiring you to be adaptable and able to manage many tasks at once, while working with a high degree of autonomy.  You will have exceptional customer service skills as you will be working with a wide variety of contracts, client and customers everyday.

You’ll be responsible for several key activities including:

  • Produce business cases to initiate delivery phases of allocated projects
  • Ensure programmes and resources are tracked and recommend action if changes are identified
  • Estimate the costs, resources, and time required to complete the assigned phase and monitor activities, allocate resources and assign tasks to ensure these targets are met
  • Manage all allocated works from concept to completion
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of subcontractors, suppliers, plant and labour
  • Maintaining quality control including Identifying, resolving, monitoring and reporting on non-conformances and implementing appropriate corrective actions
  • Identify potential variations/claims and recommend actions required for preparation and submission

About you

  • Tertiary Engineering qualification in related field with significant practical experience in Water and / or Waste Water infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in project delivery.
  • Experience using Primavera and Maximo is desirable
  • Excellent understanding and experience in managing positive outcomes of high risk works (i.e. confined space, WAH)
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in tendering and contact administration
  • Hold a current driver’s licence and white card
