The Project
The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $2.6bn M6 Stage 1 project. The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney's south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.
With work scheduled to commence in late 2021, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Project Engineer with a can-do attitude to provide on-site engineering support to our fun and hard working Surface Works Team.
Some of the role's key accountabilities include;
  • Managing the short and long term construction planning for works under control including submittals, start-up planning and programming
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the SHE Cultural Framework, policies, Safety Essentials and Management System requirements and expectations;
  • Coordinate procurement and construction elements for the designated work area
  • Ensure Quality requirements are included in project delivery documentation including subcontractor and supplier packages
  • Assisting in preparing accurate monthly reports
  • Developing and monitoring KPI and productivity analysis against program and budget
  • Working with site Supervisors and site teams
  • Actively liaising with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Liaising with project team members

About You
The successful candidate will have;
  • Either a recognised degree in engineering discipline OR other relevant tertiary qualification (TAFE or similar)
  • Graduate Member of Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust) or Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ)
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Manage self and others to deliver work to between $1M and $10M
  • Applying engineering principles to comply with scope of works and technical criteria (SWTC)
  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning up to 4 weeks ahead and weekly reporting against cost and time
  • Development of SHEQ process and procedures and management of others in conducting SHEQ process and procedures
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
