The opportunity

Our Infrastructure Services Group is looking for a motivated Process Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for providing advice and engineering support on the safety and integrity of Icon Water Treatment Process assets and systems.  You will have excellent communication skills with a strong ability to tackle problems and think analytically.

About the role

You will:

  • Provide technical governance (including advice and guidance) for allocated projects to ensure the approved asset objectives are realised. 
  • Provide technical user requirements specifications for new projects.
  • Initiate and undertake investigations and minor projects to address engineering issues and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the engineering investigation process regarding the efficient operation of Icon Water’s assets
  • Participate in cause analysis and/or investigations into significant technical incidents.
  • Review and report on performance of treatment process facilities against process safety principles.
  • Develop, roll out and maintain engineering systems that support excellent engineering practices
  • Facilitate effective working relationships between operations, maintenance teams and other delivery partners

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Degree or diploma from an Australian university or technical college; alternatively, a degree or diploma from an overseas institution recognised by Engineers Australia.  
  • Extensive experience and technical knowledge of process and infrastructure used within the water and wastewater industry.
  • Ability to mount a technical ‘argument’ using a variety of communication formats in a convincing manner appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate outcomes through professional and productive engagement with work colleagues at all levels.
  • An understanding of WSAA codes, Safety-in-Design requirements including HAZOP and CHAIR processes and process safety assessments. 
  • Experience managing small-scale projects such as basic design, investigative or condition assessment projects.
