The Opportunity
Increasing demand for engineering design services in Perth has created an exciting opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Mining Infrastructure & Delivery team. This is a great opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team who are focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients across a range of market sectors.
Coach others in the identification and management of ethical issues associated with area of work or practice area. As a technical leader proactively maintain effective networks and relevant industry relationships to gain cooperation in meeting business and client outcomes.
  • Participation in company development initiative, such as the Professional Associate Program and/or PANs.
  • Seek information to understand client needs and effectively anticipate and meet client needs and encourage client focus in colleagues including coordination with other disciplines.
  • Provide technical review of work performed by the team.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence within the mechanical team.
  • Review and verify engineering drawings and reports.
  • Provide expert technical input to a diverse range of projects in line with WSP quality system and client requirements.
  • Be responsible for client satisfaction and loyalty for the area of expertise.
  • Be a leader in Safety in Design.
  • Establish project scopes, time and cost management systems.
  • Coach others in managing competing demands.
  • Provide technical leads on multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
  • Ensure project compliance with project quality and risk management systems.
  • Ensure communications and integration systems are maintained for ongoing projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers in areas of technical expertise, project delivery and client relationships.
  • Provide expert input into the preparation of proposals for engineering services to clients.
  • Recognise the achievements and success of individuals and the team.
  • Assist team managers and executives in the selection and recruitment of employees.

What we'll love about you:
  • Typically, 15-20 years of relevant experience, with ideally 10 plus years in a consultancy environment.
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in mining and/or mineral processing industries.
  • Demonstrated competence in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of high-profile projects.
  • Established a recognised profile within industry associations e.g. Active involvement in shaping the industry.
  • Competence in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
  • Ability to prepare and reviews high level and complex technical reports.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Extensive experienced in applying QA and OH&S systems.
  • Experience in supervising graduates and managing engineers and senior engineers.
