The Role
The Principal Electronic Engineer (PEE), leads and shapes the development and research within the electronic engineering field for Defence and National Security.
The successful candidate will work to become a nationally recognised authority in application of electronic engineering to Defence research and development, through innovation and collaboration with industry and academia. They apply substantial expertise and are responsible for capability development and planning across the electronic engineering domain. They will understand and ensure alignment with the Defence S&T strategy, and initiate engineering research activities to generate new knowledge and produce enhanced Defence capability. They are also responsible for technology forecasting by researching and assessing new or enhanced scientific techniques within the domain, including the long term implications for Defence science, and the application of innovative techniques to research activities. In addition they will manage the protection and transfer of intellectual property between DST, industry and academia as appropriate.
