Naval Group Australia has one singular focus – to design and build 12 state-of-the-art submarines for our country.

As we continue this undertaking, we are now looking for a Platform Systems Engineer to live and work in France for a 3 year period before transferring back to Australia.
You will be part of a significant transfer of technology by Naval Group Australia and form part of our Design Authority team currently living and working in France on the Future Submarine Program.

The Platform Systems Engineers play a pivotal role in the establishment of the Australian Future Submarine Platform System Design, with specific responsibility for the platform design studies, technical-economic offers and integration of the Platform Systems.

Qualifications & experience we are seeking:

  • Minimum of 2 – 5 years’ experience in a Naval platform systems environment (essential).
  • Tertiary degree or equivalent in Bachelor of Mechanical and/or Marine Engineering discipline (essential).
  • Experience in Platform Systems in any of the following areas:

- HVAC Systems
- Seawater Systems
- Hydraulic & Air Systems
- Safety Systems

  • A good understanding of submarine platforms & shipyard experience.
  • Previous experience in simulation tools such as MATLAB Simulink.
  • Experience in industrial environment in the field of naval shipbuilding (submarine desirable).
  • Experience working within French culture (desirable).

This role will be based in Cherbourg, France for approximently 3 years and then in Adelaide, South Australia.

You must be an Australian citizen eligible to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1) and French Defence Clearance. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
