Glencore Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a Mining Engineer to work in Technical Services at their Underground Copper Mine – a large sublevel open stoping operation that is moving towards a future including sublevel caving. The long history of the site means we work in/around historic workings and every stope design is different – we want you to think outside the box, innovate and table new ideas that could improve the current mine plan.

This is a full-time permanent role. The annual salary for this role can range from $110,000 - $130,000 dependent upon the depth of experience and skillset the successful candidate will bring to the position. In addition, you will also receive housing and utilities allowances.

You will be become part of a small multi-disciplinary team that oversees a section of our mine; taking reserve/LOM level designs through a detailed design process before project managing design execution. This wide scope ensures that no two days will be the same for the successful candidate, look forward to a mix of operational engagement and technical office time including:

  • Detailed design work for an upcoming stoping sequence
  • Development of accurate design plans for lateral and vertical development
  • Task sequencing and engagement with operations, regular underground inspections
  • Preparation of stope design presentations, firing notes and fill notes
  • Hands on completion of i-KON stope firings

You will have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (mining engineering or similar)
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working at an underground mine
  • The skills required to work in a team environment and manage your own time/workload, while building strong inter-departmental relationships
  • Advanced software skills, preferably with experience with the Deswik software suite

This is a residential role working a 5/2, 4/3 roster, with a range of relocation benefits offered.
