Golder has opportunities for Intermediate and Senior Tailings Engineers to join our Mine Waste team on a full-time basis.  You could be based in our Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne or Perth offices and would be joining a highly rated team of 50 tailings professionals across Australia, with access to a world-leading specialist tailings laboratory in Perth.  We work with a variety of clients on projects ranging from scoping through to closure, and deliver integrated projects together with our Mine Environment, Mine Water and Mine Engineering teams.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Developing designs for tailings storage facilities, water dams and other related structures
  • Undertaking and directing design analyses, including stability and seepage analyses
  • Directing geotechnical site investigations, managing geotechnical testing and reporting
  • Preparation of technical deliverables such as proposals, reports, drawings and specifications
  • Travelling to site to supervise or audit construction of our designs
  • Working with and providing support to other members of the Mine Waste Group

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil (or related) engineering and demonstrated post-tertiary experience
  • Experience in tailings storage facility design, geotechnical investigations, geotechnical analysis, earthworks construction or liner deployment supervision experience and be ready to transition into the civil design aspects of mine waste facility (principally tailings) engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Good interpersonal skills maintain good relationship, be able to work independently and in a team and enthusiasm for design work
  • Previous consulting experience will be an advantage
