About the role

As an Engineer Mine you will play a key role in creating an executable production schedule and mine designs for all enabling activities, identifying risk and opportunities, managing change and communicating the operating strategy without compromising on quality and sustainability, whilst maximising productivity.
Reporting to the Superintendent Production Scheduling, you will play an integral role by:

  • Utilising sound judgment in the application of inputs to effectively schedule production activities in alignment with the medium and long term plans 
  • Ensuring all schedules and designs consider practicality, productivity and safety considerations, and work packs are created and adequately communicated to mine operations
  • Understanding the economic drivers that underpin both revenue and cost within the operation to ensuring these are effectively leveraged through the mine schedule
  • Ensuring that the mine schedule is well aligned with the supply chain demand (logistics capacity)
  • Ensuring that mine schedules and mine development is well aligned with the long term direction whilst at the same time validating that longer term direction is appropriate to operational constraints.
  • Driving our safety culture through quality field leadership 
  • Seeking to continuously improve both efficiency and value of the process through work planning practices and procedures, as well as identifying opportunities for efficiencies in the operation
  • Identifying and implementing cultural and process improvement initiatives within the team/operation
  • Ensuring that risk in the plan is proactively identified, mitigated and where required adequately controlled
  • Ensuring sound engagement of key stakeholders both with regards to gathering plan inputs and the communication of plan outputs
  • Assisting the Superintendent with the creation of budgets and forecasts for the Production Scheduling area and formulating feasible production forecasts and schedules that account for HSEC, volume and cost requirements

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering 
  • Experience in mine design and short term mine scheduling (weekly to 12 weeks out) would be highly advantageous
  • Experience in large scale open pit operations
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills are required to influence stakeholders in the delivery of positive business outcomes
  • Mine planning software skills (Vulcan, XACT, Alastri)
  • C class drivers licence

Location 
Working on a Fly in Fly out basis at our Yandi operation, you will enjoy outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages including; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted soccer court, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning. These positions are offered on a FIFO 5/2 4/3 roster, however in challenging the way we work we are also able to offer the opportunity for employees to work one or more days in Perth,  to support our flexible work options.
