We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Melbourne office on a fixed task basis for 7 months.

In this role, you will provide engineering support to the Project Engineering Manager and rolling stock project team. Your role will involve regularly engaging with clients to scope and deliver projects. Along with carrying out and overseeing technical design, you will also be involved with other project delivery aspects such as design modifications and investigating faults.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design - produce sketches, engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD.
  • Supporting the Quality Department in FAI activities and NCRs resolution
  • Write technical reports, repair procedures and concessions
  • Investigate mechanical component faults
  • Liaise with suppliers and customer under the supervision of PrEM
  • Undertake mechanical inspections on-site, depots and sidings

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience working in Rolling stock is an essential requirement for this role
  • Sound fundamental knowledge of welding, brazing and soldering processes
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customer, suppliers and contractors
