The Opportunity
An exciting and unique opportunity has opened for a positive and dynamic leader to assume the role of Manager – Metallurgical Assets and Continuous Improvement for the North Queensland Copper Processing Division. Our business is integrated across the entire supply chain, from resource development, mining and processing, to transport, storage and export to worldwide customers. This challenging position is an integral part of the processing assets leadership team supporting our operations in Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Townsville.  The role will play a vital role in a transformational agenda for the processing assets with a focus on optimal utilisation of available asset capacity. 

The core functions of the Processing Technical Services team is to provide technical support, leadership and strategic advice in all aspects of metallurgical performance and continuous improvements of the processing assets.  This permanent full time position is based in Mount Isa reporting to the Chief Processing Officer and requires a commitment to leadership, guidance and mentoring to a specialist team of metallurgical and engineering professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Leading and engaging a multidisciplinary team aimed at improving the metallurgical performance, capacity and profitability of the processing assets.
  • Providing technical support and advice on metallurgical performance and operational discipline to the Copper Processing Management Team.
  • Reinvigoration and sustainable embedment of continuous improvement processes including introduction of six sigma tools to the business.
  • Contribution towards value adding and transformational business cases and projects

You will have the following:

  • Qualifications in Metallurgy or Chemical engineering or other qualification with relevant minerals processing experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in mineral processing including leadership roles
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated and outcome oriented person with a high level of integrity
  • Outstanding leadership, influencing and relationship building skills
