As an Infrastructure Automation Engineer you will help to champion Transurban’s automation journey.

Whilst working on a variety of existing automation initiatives, the Infrastructure Automation Engineer will also help to partner with the business in seeking out and advocating for new opportunities to drive scalability, automation, and innovation.

We’re looking for someone collaborative who can work within our dynamic team to build and integrate modern tools and best practice into our continuously evolving automation capabilities.

The impact you’ll have

  • You’ll be a valued member of an integrated team that is accountable for the planning and delivery of quality, timely and cost effective automation initiatives and projects
  • You’ll champion automation and leverage leading edge automation and orchestration tools to define and enforce the configuration of systems to their desired state
  • You’ll ensure components are built to provide quality, security, scalability, stability, efficiency and reliability, ensuring compliance with company processes and governing standards
  • You’ll participate in Disaster Recovery events and outline tools and strategies that will work towards automated DR
  • You’ll improve the overall risk profile by proactively managing operational and change related risks

The talents you’ll bring

  • Excellent Python scripting abilities  
  • Professional experience as an Automation Specialist or comparable position (e.g. DevOps)
  • Experience working with AWS and the ability to operate within a hybrid environment
  • Strong experience and understanding of Jenkins
  • The ability to problem solve and conceptualise complex computer systems whilst adopting an automated infrastructure as code / DevOps mindset
  • Working knowledge of code repository systems such as GiT
  • Technical experience and understanding of Puppet (highly desired)
  • Experience with other development / scripting languages such as Ruby, Java, and/or GoLang (desired)
  • Tertiary education and/or professional certification(s) (desired)
