John Holland CPB Contractors (JHCPB) is delivering the $4.6bn Rozelle Interchange and Western Harbour Tunnel Southern Works construction projects. Rozelle Interchange is an underground motorway that will provide connectivity throughout Sydney's vibrant Inner West. As part of the project, you will be contributing to construction of the Rozelle Parklands, close to 10 hectares of new green space.

Roles and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to undertake the face mapping of the excavated tunnel faces and other associated duties. The role will incorporate a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • input into and work associated with Geotechnical inspection and test plans (ITP) or hold and witness points as requested by construction personnel
  • Undertake geological face mapping of tunnels and excavations to enable comparison with Design as presented within the design documentation
  • Communicate ground conditions to the CPS Lead or CPS Section Lead and provide inputs into permit to tunnel meetings
  • Direct spot bolting for local instability
  • Probing (endoscopes/borescopes)
  • Piling inspection/supervision
  • Anchor drilling inspection/supervision
  • Foundation inspection/supervision

Skills and Experience

  • Geotechnical Engineer, Mining Engineer or Engineering Geologist experience with a minimum undergraduate degree
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience (logging, mapping, site investigation)
  • Familiarity with AS1726
  • Familiarity with Sydney Classification System (Pells et al 1998)
  • Familiarity with local construction environment
