Austest Laboratories is the leading Australian Testing Facility, providing comprehensive test and qualification services for defence, aerospace, rail, automotive, medical and other industries. We are currently seeking a dynamic and motivated mechanical/mechatronic engineer or technician to join our team working on vibration, shock, load, pressure, temperature, humidity, ingress protection, acoustics, solar radiation and other forms of environmental testing.
The position involves dealing with all aspects of testing projects, from handling the initial enquiry through to design and setup of test apparatus, execution of test, analysis of results and preparation of a formal report. The successful candidate will be expected to work in close coordination with other team members and direct contact with customers, government representatives and regulatory bodies, so excellent written and oral communication skills are absolutely essential for the role.
Testing activities include significant hands-on work so a successful candidate must be competent in use of basic mechanical tools and equipment. The role would be particularly suitable for a skilled mechanical/mechatronic engineer or technician with either a trade background or considerable experience in workshop environment who doesn’t mind getting his/her hands dirty and enjoys both practical and theoretical aspects of engineering.

The work environment is very dynamic with typical projects length of only 3-4 weeks. Hence ability to operate efficiently and independently is of paramount importance.
Previous experience in laboratory testing and qualification would be very highly regarded, but not essential.
