The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium's Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne's freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
SPARK have a number of opportunities for Environmental Engineer's to implement and maintain project environmental plans, procedures and perform all required environmental monitoring and assessment as they relate to the environmental management system for the NELP . To ensure Sustainability opportunities and data is reviewed and assessed in the design, construction, and operation of the NELP.

Accountability:
  • Coach and mentor project leadership in the relevant Environmental Management Plans and Strategies, their line accountability and leadership practices
  • Ensure that social, environmental, and economic risks and opportunities for the NELP are identified, regularly reviewed, and addressed.
  • lmplement processes and systems to collect and collate data and information regarding design and procurement decisions as required.
  • Continually monitor, measure, and evaluate the project's sustainability performance and improve project practices and the Sustainability Management Plan, policies and processes and procedures, to gain optimal outcomes on the project
  • Provide advice/ guidance/deliver in-house training e.g. Toolbox, induction, visitor induction
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key environmental performance requirements, approvals, objectives, and standards as they relate to soil and spoil management.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Post graduate qualifications, desirable but not essential e.g. graduate certificate or graduate diploma in Environmental Engineering, Risk, Sustainability, Project Management or other associated disciplines.
  • Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Training for Professionals
  • Sound understanding of environmental management and sustainability principles and application within the construction industry
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Knowledge of Environment legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
  • Ability to lead high level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties.
