Our Northern New South Wales team has an exciting opportunity for a contaminated land professional early in their career to join our well-established Contamination Assessment and Remediation group, based in Newcastle. With strong mentoring available and the opportunity to work on Australia-wide projects, this position is ideal if you want to move into a role that allows for constant learning and career development, whilst working in a cohesive team (of approximately 17 professionals) alongside experienced project managers and industry leaders.
With exposure to a broad range of exciting and diverse client projects, you will provide support to our senior specialists' varied tasks including implementation and co-ordination of field programs and reporting.

You will have terrific longer-term career prospects and will see you involved in:
  • Supporting project managers in the delivery of projects including high quality field investigations, data management and technical reporting for contaminated site assessments in a robust team environment.
  • Proactively learning and developing in required skill areas, including project management and partner engagement, with multiple avenues to reach for in future including technical pathways and transitions across subject areas.
  • Providing field and office based technical input on assessment and remediation projects
  • Field investigations including groundwater monitoring, drilling (soil-vapour well install, GW well install/development, soil sampling), test pits, waste soil classification, on site management of safety and contractors, logging and observations of site works and conditions.
  • Office based tasks including data management (industry standard tools and software), management and filing of field records, review and interpretation of results, report writing.

What would you bring to the team?
  • A genuine interest in a career in contaminated land, sound field skills in contaminated site assessment, with relevant foundation skills in environmental monitoring and assessment (ideally related to contaminated sites).
  • 2-4 years' experience in fields related or adaptable to contaminated land consulting, including proven ability to deliver environmental monitoring or assessment of contaminated sites and awareness of principles of contamination assessment.
  • Varied field experience across different sites, contaminants and clients.
  • Bachelor's degree qualification in Engineering (Environmental & related) or Science (Environmental, Geology, Hydrogeology & related).
  • Licenced Asbestos Assessors (LAA) is desired but not essential
  • A strong team and work ethic backed by excellent written and oral communication skills.
