Woomera Test Range, located around 500 kms north of Adelaide, provides Australian Defence with a self-reliant capability for conducting test, evaluation and research activities. Woomera Test Range is developing new infrastructure and acquiring new state-of-the-art systems to provide next generation capability that will meet Defence’s current and future testing and evaluation requirements. The development of systems has been completed and installation and testing of systems at Woomera will soon begin. During this important phase of the project, an exciting opportunity for an APS 6 Engineer Professional - Systems has become available team for a period of around two years. If you are a systems engineer looking for a great opportunity to excel in various aspects of systems engineering, this is the role for you.

The position is based at RAAF Base, Edinburgh, however, travel to remote locations including Woomera is required for some periods. Flexible work arrangements will be accommodated. NV1 security clearance is required for this position. In this position you will work within a team to support capability development projects of Air Force Ranges Directorate ranges. The successful candidate will possess knowledge and expertise of all aspects of systems engineering from requirements to operational testing, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and relevant experience and will be required to support acquisition project activities.

Some of the exciting aspects of the role are:

  • Support Capability Development for project activities,
  • Engage with stakeholders and contractors on regular basis;
  • Review project documentation including various project plans, reports including reports on system safety and system security;
  • Review contractor developed test plans, test procedures and test reports;
  • Provide SME input/advice to contractors & stakeholders including responding to request for information (RFI);
  • Participate in regular project working group meetings on system safety, system security, support system and external interfaces;
  • Work closely with Air Force Ranges Squadron (ATRSQN) members to ensure the new capability is adopted smoothly;
  • Assist in de-conflicting site integration/testing and Woomera Test Range trial activities; and
  • Develop domain knowledge of range mission system and its external interfaces.

This is a non-ongoing vacancy for 18 months.
