Your Role

Engage with stakeholders, investigate software engineering concepts, deliver and manage software engineering specifications and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle. Investigate, analyse and report on software engineering defects and requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues.

Accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex software engineering work within an integrated workforce. Accountable to have and maintain a well developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

Accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. Interpret and provide advice within the software engineering function based on legislation, policy and procedures. Undertake specialist, technical research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments and perform procedural or operational support work to achieve results.

Our Team

The Destroyer System Program Office (DDGSPO) has been established to accept and sustain the Air Warfare Destroyers (AWD). The DDGSPO is an integrated workforce consisting of ADF, APS and industry personnel based at Garden Island in Sydney. Given the integrated nature of the workforce, positive relationships, collaborative behaviors, and an agile and flexible approach will be fundamental to the success of the DDGSPO. The DDGSPO is a dynamic and challenging work environment supporting the Royal Australian Navy's newest and most capable Hobart Class warships.

You will be a team player with highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills  someone who genuinely believes in collaborating both within and across organisational boundaries to achieve outcomes. This is a desk based position involving computer use and working with others towards shared goals in a collaborative team environment.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 clearance upon commencing with Defence
