About the team 

Our Design Engineering department provides safe and successful design capability (including people, processes, systems and tools) for the Business. Within this function, we are looking to grow and enhance a number of our teams across Avionics Systems and Software Engineering.

You will be joining a collaborative, highly skilled team in Brisbane, conducting design engineering activities on rotary and fixed wing aircraft and ground support equipment.

About the roles

You will be working within Avionics, Systems and Software engineering teams to develop and deliver design solutions, using a systems engineering approach. The design solutions encompass direct support of airborne platforms and ground support stations already in-service with our customers, as well as design of complex upgrades to existing platforms and new products.

All work is carried out in accordance with and compliance to all processes, systems and tools that meet Customer, Regulatory and AAP requirements. You will use your delegated Engineering Authority to achieve this.

There are a number of roles available across our specialties, including

  • Avionics hardware integration and design support

  • Airborne and ground stations software development, integration & test

  • Airborne and ground stations systems development, integration & test

Duties would include:

  • Developing Avionics Hardware and/or software upgrades and products for ground and airborne applications, following Airbus and international design development standards, from requirements definition with customer up to entry into service
  • Developing, reviewing, approving and managing Design Engineering tasks, for continued Airworthiness
  • Resolving design problems, providing technical advice and recommendations
  • Carrying out technical investigations and providing reports on findings
  • Maintain data files, engineering records and electronic databases as required to accurately report and record engineering decisions
  • Actively participate in of the Engineering Management System and functional disciplines within Airbus
  • Demonstrating best practice and encouraging cross-functional collaboration within Design Engineering

About you

To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, have well developed analytical skills as well as excellent verbal and written skills. You will be someone who is able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment. We are looking for people to join us who possess the following:

  • Minimum 3 years' design engineering experience across multiple disciplines, ideally within aviation, but other applicable industries considered. We are looking for profiles with various levels of experience, so senior personnel with 10+ years' experience also welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, standards and best practices
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Systems Engineering, Software, Avionics or Mechatronics (Australian accredited)
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is desirable but not mandatory
  • Understanding of maintenance and engineering cost drivers
  • Ability and willingness to engage in investigation of technical issues, development and review of technical documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and interdependent functions; and manage conflicting priorities within a matrix organisation
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
