The Role
Director of Engineering's mission is to assure, and assist in ensuring, the safety, availability and reliability of explosive materiel used by the Navy, Army and Air Force in training and on military operations.

As the Director of Engineering you will play a key role in enhancing the technical integrity of the Australian Defence Force’s explosive ordnance (EO). In this role, you will be required to develop outcomes to not only support but determine the strategic direction of EO engineering within the Department of Defence. The Director of Engineering has the ability to work directly to the Director General Explosive Materiel (DGEM) based in Brindabella Park, Canberra. 

You will be required to provide advice across Defence and aligned Defence industry on explosive ordnance design, engineering, management, policy and provide independent maintenance management advice.

You will manage the Directorate of Engineering and lead the professional development of the engineering and technical workforce within EMB.

This position may carry the ability to be undertaken remotely and or from another location with Australiaith the requirement to travel regularly. 

About our Team
The Directorate of Engineering team:

provides branch wide engineering support and services in the areas of configuration management, information technology, data management, technical publications and technical drawings;
maintains the Branches Engineering Management System (EMS), which assures the technical integrity (that is safety, capability and environmental compliance) of explosive materiel, including explosive ordnance, used by the ADF;
provides expert engineering advice and support to EMB personnel to assist in ensuring the technical integrity of explosive material, and
Maintains the explosive ordnance safety and reliability assurance program.

Our Ideal Candidate
Defence is seeking a highly skilled and qualified professional Engineer with a strong background in managing technical personnel, and engineering and business practices.

You will be agile and comfortable in managing risk and achieving capability outcomes in a collaborative manner.  

You will have Industry recognised qualifications and demonstrated experience working in explosive ordnance engineering or guided weapons engineering.
