Defence are seeking highly motivated, qualified engineering professionals to join the Naval Technical Bureau with a combination of roles across Canberra and Sydney.

You will:

  • Contribute to Navy engineering and shipbuilding capabilities
  • Work on ground-breaking maritime engineering projects in an exciting and diverse range of work


The Naval Technical Bureau (NTB) is an in-house engineering organisation for Navy with expertise spanning a broad range of technologies with application across the entire life cycle of Naval Ships and Submarines. The NTB is wholly customer focused; it exists to continuously deliver products and services required of it.  The NTB has been designed to be flexible and agile in responding to any changes in requirements and/or technologies.

We are looking for diploma qualified engineers in one or more of the following engineering fields:

  • Mechanical;
  • Materiel and;
  • Mechatronics


You will be working across Navy Engineering on a range of projects that will see you interacting with Australian Defence Force personnel (ADF) as well as internal Australian Public Service (APS) staff and external stakeholders. The diverse projects, technical advances and exposure to ground breaking maritime developments are just some of the exciting aspects of the portfolio as well as knowing you are contributing to the continued capability and safety of the Royal Australian Navy.
