The Opportunity

We’re currently looking for a part-time Digital Engineering (DE) Technician to join our Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance (MRPA). You will be a strong advocate for innovation; a practitioner who will assist our project teams and support us in delivering major infrastructure projects across Melbourne – ensuring our focus remains on leveraging the benefits that DE processes provide for design development, value engineering, quality control, cost predictability and safety.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the MRPA project team(s) to implement a list of DE deliverables to facilitate the planning and control of works
  • Training and assisting project DE ‘champions’ in the preparation and utilization of DE models with the aim to help mitigate risk in delivery, challenging design and championing innovation to improve safety
  • Identifying the correct LOD/item specific model information required for a task, and liaising with designers where necessary to attain it
  • Managing and reviewing models associated with all deliverables
  • Auditing models against the DE guidelines at agreed project milestones (milestones to be agreed with Design Manager and/or Project Manager per project)

Secondary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the overall project coordination and data validation utilising the agreed model/s
  • Working alongside the Digital Design Coordinator to encourage and develop Digital Awareness across the Alliance and within Fulton Hogan
  • Involvement in the LXRP Digital Engineering Committee to broaden MRPA’s skills and knowledge in this field (when required)
  • Involvement (both hands on/ through knowledge share) in the implementation of MRPA’s CDE (Projectwise)
  • Implementation/ Trialling of new softwares

About You

To be successful in this position, you will require the following skills/experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a DE role, coupled with a strong practical knowledge of Autodesk software, such as: AutoCAD, Civil3D, Navisworks and/or Infraworks (essential)
  • Understanding of complex 3D modelling
  • Experience in utilising new and upcoming digital technologies for civil and infrastructure projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Happy to rotate throughout the different sites/ site teams on a regular basis.
