About the role:
Stantec is currently involved in four major dam augmentation projects in Australia that combine dam safety aspects with flood mitigation and/or water security objectives. These large projects are supplemented by other dam upgrades, dam safety inspections, safety reviews and risk assessments for a variety of clients across Australia.
With this backdrop of ongoing work and the strength of our pipeline of exciting projects, our Australasian business is looking to grow its team of experienced Dams Engineers in our Sydney office. Applicants with a preference to be based in either our Melbourne or Brisbane offices will also be considered.
This is an opportunity to push your career forward as part of an international leader in Dams and infrastructure engineering. You will join an established multi-disciplined team in our Sydney office (alternatively, Melbourne or Brisbane), where there is a cluster of experienced Dams engineers and project managers who can guide and mentor you as your build your career. You will be applying the technical knowledge you have, working alongside senior and recognised specialists around the country, and contributing to a variety of challenging projects throughout Australia and elsewhere.
You will be building your people skills in dealing with a range of clients including local authorities, government bodies and commercial organisations. Our team enjoys positive long-term relationships with clients who've come to rely on us as trusted advisors.
The role in a snapshot includes the following:
• Providing technical inputs and support to project managers in the Dams sector
• Producing and checking technical calculations, specifications and drawings, with a solution-focused approach.
• Supporting business development by planning and coordinating projects, proposals, and reports
• Participating in project team and client meetings as required to present and discuss technical issues and solutions that meet our clients' high expectations
To meet the requirements of this exciting opportunity in a global company, you will be tertiary qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and have at least 6+ years' experience within engineering consultancies. Preferably, you will have experience in the Dams space, and a passion to continue a career down this path. You will be confident in your technical skills relating to Dams engineering, and have experience using relevant software along with proven effective communication and client relationship-building skills.

Whilst the current focus of the role will be the Australian dams market, opportunities to become involved in projects elsewhere in the world do present themselves and these can be explored on a case-by-case basis if they are of interest.
Relevant Engineer degree (Civil or similar)
