Cardno’s Urban Infrastructure Division is currently seeking two Construction Engineers to join our busy team in Melbourne CBD.

The successful applicant s must have applied knowledge and experience in construction management of civil contractors and authorities ideally in the Land Development Industry to achieve the successful delivery of projects on time, budget and to client’s satisfaction.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the successful delivery of projects by ensuring a smooth process in the construction of projects including Land Development, Infrastructure, Commercial and Defence
  • Ensure work output is of a technically high standard and on time and budget
  • Undertake the preparation and supervision of Schedules, Tenders and Contact documents
  • Attend site audits and Chair construction site meetings, prepare & distribute accurate minutes
  • Ability to manage design and construction RFI’s on site
  • Monitor contractor’s works programs, manage extensions of time
  • Assess contractors claims, issue payment certificates, assessment and approval of variations
  • Prepare reports for work carried out and conduct quality investigations as required
  • Comply with the quality management systems with the ability to provide feedback and recommendation for ongoing continues improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of fee proposal for the bidding of projects
  • Provide accurate and efficient engineering services in accordance with project time frames and budgets

Ideally you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management coupled with ideally 5 years’ experience
  • A good construction understanding of earthworks, stormwater, infrastructure, sewer and water infrastructure and concrete structures
  • Familiarity with construction safety policy and procedure, AS2124 and AS4000 General Conditions of Contract
  • An ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and to work under pressure to meet deadlines with the ability to allocate tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills to maintain a strong client focus.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel Systems and MS Projects
  • Accreditation with MRWA water authorities is highly desirable or willingness to achieve accreditation as soon as possible
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Valid driver’s license
