About the Role:
As the Combat Systems Technician – Communications, you will have the opportunity to be part of a talented team working with cutting-edge technology to support the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Submarine Force.

A background in Naval or Military communications technology and systems would be seen as highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance on Naval communications systems
  • Understand and diagnose the system design features and operational requirements
  • Assessing and determination of problems 
  • Preparation of maintenance plans and meeting budget and timeline objectives
  • Working collaboratively with engineering specialists to develop solutions and assisting with the assembly, installation and testing of equipment

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Defence Engineering discipline
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in electronic system fault finding and diagnostics
  • Experience and knowledge in electrical and data interface standards and protocols (RS232/422, USB, and Networking)
  • Ability to work with operating systems/servers, network protocols (Linux, Unix & Windows)
  • Some travel may be required within Australia and overseas to support submarine maintenance activities

For your application to be successful, you must be able to obtain and maintain Australian Government Security Clearance, Negative Vetting Level 1 and hold International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) Accreditation.
