About the Opportunity

The Combat Systems Reliability Engineer (RE) is responsible for the performance of the activities required to analyse Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) characteristics for the HCF Combat Systems.

This role also provides guidance and recommendations relating to ARM related Risks throughout the HCFP particularly pertaining to Combat Systems, and provide specialist support to the HCF Program.

In terms of specific responsibilities, will be to:

  • Collation review and validation of ARM source data provided by suppliers to the HCFP.
  • Lead performance of IARMT Analysis and Modelling for Combat and Support Systems.
  • Provide support to the IARMT Analysis and Modelling for Platform Systems.
  • Review outputs from LSA activities such as Failure Modes Effects and Critical Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Level of repair Analysis (LORA).
  • Lead Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) activity interface with HCF Combat System Design, Procurement and OEM stakeholders and provide technical guidance to ARM analysts.
  • Development of the ARM Case Report through the provision of Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) analysis reporting and other related evidence artefacts meeting project schedule requirements.
  • Draw conclusions and propose recommendations to improve equipment/system reliability and supportability based on analysis and available evidence. Complete and deliver reporting documentation on time, to an agreed schedule. Make decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
  • Maintenance and maturity enhancement of Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) Modelling Process Instructions to ensure alignment with methodology used across the (ARM) program, in particular ARM data and assumption management.
  • Develop expert proficiency in the use of PTC-WQS software applications used in support of the reliability analysis.
  • Represent the HCF ARM Lead at meetings, working groups and similar situations as directed.

About you

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • Significant experience in the technical review and reporting of assessment data relative to the mechanical and/or electrical health of systems and equipment (Essential).
  • Experience in Reliability analysis toolsets such as PTC-WQS (Relex) RBD and Prediction (Highly Desirable).
  • Experience within Navy or Naval Shipbuilding contract environments (Desirable).
  • Experience in the operation and/or maintenance of systems within the defence environment or related technical industry is also highly desirable (Highly Desirable).
  • Significant experience in delivering large and complex technical projects, preferably in the defence environment, in both the acquisition and support phases of the lifecycle.
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering and/or equivalent industry experience (Essential).
  • Formal training and certification in applicable Standards and/or equivalent industry experience (Highly Desirable).
  • Formal training and certification in Reliability Engineering and/or equivalent industry experience (Highly Desirable).

A defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and have the ability to meet defence security clearance and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements for this position.
