The Melbourne transport team has a variety of immediate secured work and future opportunities in the pipeline including North Western Program Alliance work Level Crossing Removal packages, Western Roads Upgrade, Inland Rail, future M80 Ring Road Upgrades, Melbourne Airport Rail Link, and other large road and rail and projects.

The Opportunity

With several projects currently being delivered and to position ourselves for future opportunities, KBR are seeking a Civil Drainage Engineer to join our well established and growing team.

Ideally this role will suit a developed civil design professional with knowledge and experience of Australian design and drafting standards and experience across a broad range of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The study, investigation, design and specification of drainage and drainage-related infrastructure for transportation infrastructure.
  • Designing and documenting work to an industry-accepted standard by undertaking hydraulic analysis and calculations, preparing engineering reports, specifications and other supporting design documentation;
  • Preparing and communicating design outputs for the preparation of industry-standard design drawings
  • Working with support of managers and senior engineers to complete engineering works as required, contributing to engineering projects;
  • Working within client requirements and established industry practices;
  • Leads, or provides input into preparation of expressions of interest and bids;
  • Demonstrating an understanding of client needs and achieving a good level of client satisfaction;
  • Working with other staff in the team to co-ordinate related activities; including mentoring for junior engineers


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil)
  • Previous experience in design of drainage infrastructure for roads and highways
  • Knowledge of Austroads drainage guidelines and Australian Standards applicable to drainage infrastructure essential
  • Knowledge of 12D software highly preferred
  • Chartered or near chartered engineer status preferred
