The Role
Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) is offering multiple opportunities for capable and driven aerospace engineering professionals. You will be part of a team within the Directorate of Initial Airworthiness (DIA) whose functions include:

  • Delivering initial airworthiness policy and regulations as detailed in Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR).
  • Prescribing and interpreting airworthiness design requirements for certification of military aircraft.
  • Promoting initial airworthiness concepts through the conduct of education and training.
  • Developing explanatory and guidance material related to initial airworthiness policy and design requirements.
  • Assuring the safety of aircraft designs, by providing support regarding compliance with prescribed airworthiness design requirements.

You will engage with stakeholders (internal and external) to provide support to the Defence aviation community in matters related to initial airworthiness regulations; compliance with design requirements; certification of military aircraft and related products, parts and appliances; and assurance of design and production organisations.

The Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) is responsible for enhancing and promoting the safety of military aviation and assuring the effective management of aviation safety risks. The Directorate of Initial Airworthiness (DIA) plays a critical part in prescribing policy and regulation, providing certification of Defence aviation systems and oversight of Defence aviation organisations.

Our Ideal Candidate
DASA are looking for motivated aerospace/aviation (or related) engineers with experience in design, production or management of aircraft, or other safety critical systems, with a keen interest in safety performance. Practical experience in relation to aviation safety, in particular application of system safety, and evaluation of aviation safety risks is highly desirable.

You will be able to apply your critical thinking skills to research and analyse aviation safety policy and assure the safety of aircraft designs, and use your experience to determine policy impacts and make recommendations regarding approval/certification of aircraft designs. You will be able to confidently apply your advanced verbal and written communication skills to deliver promotional and guidance materials.
