Are you are interested in being involved with aircraft and weapon flight trials, and the provision of specialist engineering and aircraft weapons related advice?


If so, then this is the job for you. This position offers a wide variety of challenging and rewarding tasks as well as the rare opportunity to be involved in Army, Navy and Air Force flight trials. As an APS 5 ASC Engineer you will part of a small team of specialists to assist the Air Warfare Engineering Squadron (AWE SQN) deliver systems engineering outputs such as the:

  • Development, review and approval of weapon danger area and safety trace templates
  • Gathering and assessment of evidence to enable stores clearances and other stores related technical and safety advice
  • Weapon and store trajectory modelling and simulation using Matlab and Simulink
  • Statistical analysis of aircraft and weapon test results and accompanying risk analysis
  • Provision of specialist weapons related engineering advice and analysis to stakeholders.


The AWE SQN is a RAAF organisation dedicated to the provision of specialist engineering designs and advice for:

  • Aircraft Instrumentation, and Specialist Aerospace Advice
  • Specialist Air Weapons and Stores Advice, (including loading, clearance and employment), and integration of AUS/US air weapons programs
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility and RF Analysis and Advice
  • Aerodynamic Modelling, Weapon Danger Area and Safety Assessments
  • Prototyping and Mechanical / Electrical Manufacture
