About the team

The In-Service Structures Team is part of the company's Airframe Structures department that provides design capability to the business. The In-Service team, located at RAAF Base Richmond, is responsible for providing structures design support and expertise to the C-130J Hercules Program, for both operational aircraft and aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance.

Due to internal company promotions of personnel, we are looking to hire new team members.  

About the role

Reporting to the Team Lead Richmond Structures In-Service, this role is responsible for working within an engineering team to develop and deliver design solutions following company procedures, in accordance with a level and scope of Engineering Authority delegated to you.

You can anticipate some of your day-to-day activities to include:

  • Executing technical Design Engineering tasks including analysis assessing static and fatigue strength of repaired / modified aircraft components and report writing justifying your decisions
  • Providing expertise in the discipline for type investigation relevant to certification and Continued Airworthiness
  • Interfacing closely with the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), the Support Engineering team, maintenance personnel and Planning / Coordination teams

About you

We are currently open to considering a diverse range of relevant skills and experiences to compliment this team, from graduate engineers through to seasoned professionals

To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, have well developed relationship skills as well as good verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who is able to work to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment. The skills and experience best suited to this role:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical or compatible discipline from nationally accredited program or equivalent
  • Knowledge of structures static strength “hand” analysis techniques; finite element analysis skills and / or Fatigue and Damage Tolerance methodologies would be highly regarded
  • Ability to solve high level service issues, with strong analytical and strategic problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, standards and best practices in either a Defence or Civil environment
  • A high degree of personal and professional integrity
