Submarine Division (within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group), works, with Navy and Industry counterparts to ensure Australia has an enduring and potent Submarine capability. Submarines are a unique defence capability and play an essential role in supporting Australia's maritime security. The Submarine Combat System Program is responsible for all aspects of the acquisition, design development, implementation and introduction into service of the Combat Systems for Australia's future submarines, as well as maintaining and upgrading several systems for the existing Collins Class submarine. The positions will provide the right candidates with the opportunity to gain exposure and experience in a unique and complex acquisition and sustainment environment shaping Australia’s future maritime defence capability.

As a Support Engineer/Technical Specialist (Communications) you will perform an important role as part of the Communications and Electronic Warfare Directorate within the Collins Combat Capability Upgrades Program, with the following key activities:

  • Participating and/or representing the project in technical integrated project teams and working groups including design, safety, security, and verification & validation;
  • Analysing and identifying solutions to emergent issues and providing advice to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager
  • Participate in testing activities, including land based testing and platform testing for sell off of project requirements

Or, as a Safety and Certification Manager (Sonar) you will perform an important role as part of the Tactical, Sonar and Weapons Directorate within the Collins Combat Capability Upgrades Program, with the following key activities:

  • Planning and coordinating the safety and seaworthiness certification of the Collins sonar upgrade
  • Conducting working groups with stakeholders and contractors to all sonar seaworthiness and certification activities are complete
  • Analysing and identifying solutions to emergent issues and providing advice to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager
