Your role

Across every operational unit from infantry to armoured and aviation, the Army employs a wide range of vehicles, equipment and weapon systems. This creates equally diverse career opportunities for mechanical engineers.

With work variety that's rarely found in comparable civilian positions, you'll manage the teams that repair and maintain military hardware such as:

  • helicopters
  • tanks
  • trucks
  • armoured personnel carriers
  • radios
  • radar
  • artillery guns, and
  • missile systems.

You'll be employed in operational environments as an officer in command of a large team of technicians and tradespeople. The job will also encompass resource management, and in time you will be given the opportunity to expand into other areas such as design engineering and project engineering.
